ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Community Supervision (DCS) is holding its inaugural ‘Family Day’ event in Warner Robins on Saturday, December 5.

‘Family Day’ is a new initiative created by DCS that provides an opportunity for offenders and their families to connect with critical resources within the community. These resources help equip offenders with the necessary skills to remain productive members of their community while under DCS supervision, and after the completion of their sentences.

DCS Commissioner Michael Nail says that events like ‘Family Day’ embody DCS’ holistic approach to community-based offender supervision.

“This is another example of our commitment to providing offenders with opportunities for successful outcomes. ‘Family Day’ is an excellent way to connect offenders and their families with much needed familial, educational and vocational resources within the community. The goal of ‘Family Day’ is to provide a convenient, unintimidating and friendly setting where information is shared and the dialogue between offender and provider can be enhanced,” said Nail.

Numerous local and state government agencies, faith-based organizations, and private vendors from the Houston County area will be on hand. Some of those participating include: Georgia Department of Labor, Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice, Central Georgia Technical College, Mercer University, Rainbow House Children’s Resource Center, Rehoboth Life Care Ministries and many others. DCS ‘Family Day’ is sponsored by the Second Baptist Church of Warner Robins, Chick-fil-A and Jeff Smith Automotive to name a few. There will also be fun and games for kids of all ages to enjoy.

‘Family Day’ will be held on December 5, from 12 p.m.- 4 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church, 1040 South Houston Lake Road, in Warner Robins, GA.
