Nancy Smith
Recidivism Reduction Director
Nancy has served the State of Georgia since 1995 and has worked for the Department of Community Supervision since 2015. Prior to her career with DCS, she worked for the state in various capacities with the Department of Corrections.
Notable accomplishments throughout her career include planning, implementation and oversight of the Strategic Intervention Program at Arrendale and Coastal State Prisons, planning and implementation of the Next Generation Assessment, Performance Incentive Credits, and other specialized programs, serving as the liaison for the State Board of Pardons and Paroles, and developing, implementing and managing the Max Out Reentry (MORE) Program. 2015 Recipient of APPA Award for Excellence in the Community Crime Prevention for the MORE Program.
Among her professional accomplishments, she is also a member of the Georgia Professional Association of Community Supervision (GPACS) and she has completed Basic Management Training, Advanced Management Training, Corrections Leadership Institute Training, National Institute of Corrections Media & Public Relations Training. She is also a Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T.) Certified General Instructor.
Nancy holds a Master's Degree in Public Safety Administration from Columbus State University, a Bachelor's Degree in Public Safety/Criminal Justice from Mercer University, and an Associates in Criminal Justice from Columbus State University.
Nancy and her husband Dale are proud parents of two sons, Trenton and Benjamin.
