DeKalb DCS office to host WorkSource Mobile Career Unit
ATLANTA - The Department of Community Supervision (DCS) has partnered with DeKalb WorkSource to bring the Career Mobile Unit and pre-employment services to the DeKalb DCS office. The WorkSource unit will be available from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm on Monday, April 17, 2017. The DeKalb DCS office is located at 547 Church Street; Decatur, GA 30030.
The Career Mobile Unit enables individuals under DCS supervision to access computers to conduct job searches. Career consultants will also be on-site to assist with resume development, job readiness training and career coaching.
DeKalb Community Coordinator Sharon Almon says collaborations such as this are essential to providing returning citizens with opportunities to find success. “We are extremely excited about the possibilities of the partnership with DeKalb Worksource. Providing pathways to meaningful employment for individuals under the DCS supervision remains one of our top priorities. Research has shown that gainful employment has a positive impact on recidivism,” said Almon.
The Career Mobile Unit travels throughout the county to bring job assistance to DeKalb residents, including access to services like job search assistance, workshops, training, resume writing and interviewing tips. Businesses may also use the mobile unit for interviewing, training, pre-employment screenings or recruiting.
