Scott Maurer
Commissioner
Scott has served the State of Georgia since 2001 and has been with the Department of Community Supervision since its inception in 2015, serving as Chief of Staff. He helped shape the agency’s strategic direction, strengthen operations, and guide significant initiatives. Prior to joining DCS, Scott served the state in various leadership capacities with the Georgia Department of Corrections and the State Board of Pardons & Paroles.
Throughout his career, Scott has contributed to initiatives that have strengthened Georgia’s approach to community supervision and reentry. His accomplishments include contributing to the statewide expansion of Day Reporting Centers, the implementation of Community Impact Programs, and the Max Out ReEntry (M.O.R.E.) Program.
Scott is actively engaged in criminal justice leadership at both the state and national levels. He serves as Chairman of the Probable Cause Committee for the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council (POST) and the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (GJCC) Committee. He is also a member of the POST Council Executive Committee, the National Institute of Corrections (NIC), and the Crime Victims Compensation Board (CVCP).
Scott holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University and a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. He is a graduate of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College and is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
Scott and his wife, Monica, are the proud parents of two children, Morgan and Colin.
