ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Community Supervision (DCS), along with the Georgia Information Sharing Analysis Center (GISAC), Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Deparmtne of Natural Resources (DNR) and other state and local law enforcement agencies, conducted a joint operation in the metro-Atlanta area targeting wanted violent and sex offender parolees and probationers.

The wanted individuals have outstanding parole/probation warrants for either failing to report, absconding from supervision or committing subsequent offenses. The operation was conducted during the early morning hours of today. There were roughly forty-five warrants executed during the operation. Nineteen offenders were located and taken into custody.

DCS Field Operations Director David Morrison says the operation is a collaborative effort between DCS and other law enforcement agencies in the metro Atlanta area: “This operation is a culmination of months and months of research and intelligence gathering by DCS, GBI and GSP and other local law enforcement agencies. In a joint operations of this nature, the number one priority and purpose is to enhance and promote public safety. The individuals targeted today are some of the highest risk, highest needs offenders under DCS supervision. We are grateful for the participation and partnership of all the local, county and state agencies who assisted in this operation.”

DCS is responsible for the community-based supervision of approximately 180,000 adult felony offenders.
