DCS Announces 2020 Award Winners

 

ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Community Supervision (DCS) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2020 DCS Awards:

 

  • 2020 DCS Employee of the Year (Sworn Staff) winner — Cory Beggs,  Coordinating Chief CSO of the Atlanta Judicial Circuit 

 

  • 2020 DCS Employee of the Year (Non-Sworn Staff) winner — Sharon Almon, Community Coordinator, Reentry Services, Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit 

 

  • 2020 DCS Leadership Award winner — Kimberly Persley, Coordinating Chief CSO, Doughtery Judicial Circuit 

 

  • 2020 DCS Stakeholder Award winner(s)—Kevin Skidmore, Four Fourty Trucking, LLC, Dekalb County, and Dale Allen, Athens Clark County Probation, Athens, Georgia 

 

  • 2020 DCS Tiffany Bishop Award winner— Sarah Williams, Community Supervision Officer (CSO), Brunswick Judicial Circuit 

 

  • 2020 DCS Heroism Award winner(s) — 
    • Jamey Green, Community Supervision Officer, Cobb Judicial Circuit; 
    • Jesse Akers, Community Supervision Officer, and Dustin Broadaway, Cordele Judicial Circuit; and 
    • Johnny Hawkins, Community Supervision Officer, Dougherty Judicial Circuit

 

  • 2020 DCS Customer Service Award winner —Aura Russell, Compliance Monitor/ DCS Board Liaison, Misdemeanor Probation Oversight Unit, Atlanta, Georgia

 

  • 2020 DCS Day Reporting Center with the highest Program Assessment Score award Winner(s) — Macon Day Reporting Center, Macon, Georgia and Houston Judicial Circut Day Reporting Center, Warner Robins, Georgia

 

  • 2020 DCS Day Reporting Center with the highest Overall Performance award winner(s) — Gainesville Day Reporting Center, Gainesville, Georgia and Houston Judicial Circuit Day Reporting Center, Warner Robins, Georgia

 

The award winners were announced during the 2020 DCS Awards Ceremony held at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) in Forsyth, Ga on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, and The Honorable Chief Justice Harold D. Melton of the Georgia Supreme Court served as the keynote speaker. 

The DCS Award Ceremony is held to recognize the talented and brave individuals who have made an immense contribution to the Department, the criminal justice system, and their local community. These masterful employees exhibit qualities that advance the department and also bring a notable spotlight on public service. Each year the ceremony is held to celebrate these accomplishments and highlight award recipients who exemplify our core values.
