Atlanta, GA - The Georgia Department of Community Supervision (DCS) is set to recognize its dedicated employees at the annual Awards Ceremony, to be held, Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 10:00 am. The ceremony will take place in person at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) auditorium, situated at 1000 Indian Springs Drive, Forsyth, GA.

 

DCS Commissioner Michael W. Nail expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, "This is a tremendous opportunity for DCS to recognize those who play a crucial role in upholding public safety and transforming communities across Georgia. During our Annual Awards Ceremony, we applaud the outstanding DCS personnel who have consistently gone above and beyond their call of duty. We also extend our appreciation to our community partners who provide unmatched services to our supervisee population."

 

Greg Dozier, Commissioner of the Technical College System of Georgia, will serve as the keynote speaker for the ceremony: "I am thrilled to express my appreciation for the dedicated individuals of the Georgia Department of Community Supervision."  "Their unwavering commitment and invaluable contributions significantly enhance law enforcement efforts across our State. Their diverse skills and talents collectively contribute to our safety and continuous improvement," he further emphasizes.

 

During the ceremony, leaders within the department will present several prestigious awards, including:

 

DCS Employee of the Year Awards: Recognizing outstanding Sworn and Non-Sworn DCS employees who consistently deliver high-quality work and have made significant contributions within the criminal justice field.

 

DCS Leadership Award: Acknowledging a DCS employee for exceptional performance in addressing issues and concerns that impact the agency's work and environment.

 

DCS Stakeholder Award: Honoring public and private DCS stakeholders who further the DCS mission or make substantial contributions to offenders and the general public, ultimately enhancing public safety and community welfare.

 

DCS Tiffany Bishop Award: Recognizing exceptional DCS Officers within their first year of service who excel in their work and foster unity among colleagues and the community.

 

DCS Heroism Award: Commending acts of heroism or outstanding deeds that resulted in the protection of life and property.

 

DCS Customer Service Award: Recognizing a DCS employee who provides exceptional support to co-workers, offenders, or the general public, contributing to public safety and community well-being.

 

DCS Day Reporting Center Award: Acknowledging the contributions made by Day Reporting Centers toward advancing the department's mission by offering opportunities for successful outcomes for those under supervision.

 

Video Spotlight of the Year Award: Recognizing exemplary work by Community Supervision Officers in the field, demonstrating the highest standards of person-centered supervision and the use of Enhanced Supervision Program (ESP) skills.

 

In addition to honoring the award recipients, the 2023 DCS Annual Awards Ceremony celebrates the service of numerous individuals and teams within the Department. This includes recipients of Command College scholarships, 25, 30, 35, 40 year Faithful Service Awards, and those who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to their communities.
