Nick Powell began his career as a Juvenile Probation /Parole Specialist in 2009. Since that time, he has held the positions of Probation Officer, Mental Health Probation Officer Specialist, Immediate Response Team Member, Assistant Chief, Media Relations Specialist, and Data Analyst. Nick is also a POST Certified Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Facilitator, and has completed the University of Georgia’s grant writing program. In his current role, Nick manages the agency’s strategic plan and performance measures as reported to the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget. Additionally, he oversees data, grant, policy, and research related projects for DCS. Nick holds a Doctorate in Sociology from Georgia State University, a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from the University of West Georgia.
